News 2018-02-16 - All Ready for Nenagh Stages Rally

Joe McGonigle (Mini WRC), Paddy McVeigh (Impreza WRC) & Liam Egan (Subaru Impreza WRX)This weekend we have 3 cars heading to the first proper tarmac rally of the year at The Great National Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh Tarmac Stages Rally organised and promoted by the Birr & District Motor Club.

This will be a rally of firsts alright - as already mentioned, it is the first closed road event of 2018:

It is also Joe McGonigle's first proper tarmac rally in one of our Mini WRC's after his first outing at the Turkey Run at Shackelton Airfield just before New Year's Eve last year.

It will be Paddy McVeigh's first time back on closed public roads with this car in over a year as the Dungannon man took a break from rallying to concentrate on business commitments but he did manage to get a small test in the car recently at the New Years Stages Rally held at Kirkistown Race Circuit.

And then in the new Subaru Impreza WRX, we have Liam Egan who has travelled all the way from New York to be with us for this event. Like Paddy McVeigh, Liam hasn't been able to take part in the sport for a while now and is eager to get back into the car and enjoy the 6 stages that the organisers have prepared for the event on Sunday.

We wish all the crews the best of luck on Sunday! The cars are prepped, cleaned and now loaded on the trailers, ready to make the trip down to County Tipperary. Scrutiny starts at 2 pm on Saturday and the cars can be seen as they queue up for their safety checks before being tucked into parc ferme for the night.

The rally starts proper at 9:10 am on Sunday morning from The Great National Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh. More information on the rally can be found on:
